Barack Obama has arrived at cavernous Invesco Field to accept the Democratic Party presidential nomination in a moment of history witnessed by a delirious, overflow convention crowd of unprecedented size.

More than 84,000 dancing, singing, flag-waving and cheering admirers greeted the man of the hour. Obama waved and beamed as he walked briskly to the podium in the football stadium that was rocking with an outpouring of affection from Democrats worked into a frenzy by a week of heavy anticipation and soaring expectations.

The normal seating capacity of Invesco Field, according to city officials, is 76,125, but many more seats were placed on the playing field.
